VINYL WINDOWS

Vinyl windows are typically thicker, lighter, and far more attractive than aluminum windows. They come in lots of different finishes and are highly resistant to scratching, cracking and marring. One of the most popular alternative to actual wood frames is the wood-grain finish on the vinyl windows.  Not only does it look like actual wood, it never chips, dents, scratches and never needs to be painted.

If you think about it, over ¼ of your house is made of windows.  If you are looking to beautify your home, increase the overall value of your home, and are looking to reduce the noise from the outside world, Vinyl Windows are your solution.

Vinyl windows do not corrode over time.  Aluminum windows over time will corrode as the steel or zinc fasteners may react with the aluminum causing ugly corrosion.  In addition to that, aluminum windows can dent, pit and fade over time due to the elements of nature.  Wind, rain and the relentless effects of the sun will pay their toll upon your aluminum windows!

When it comes to maintenance, Vinyl Windows requires less upkeep than traditional aluminum or wood windows.  There is absolutely no need to repaint them as they are the same color throughout the vinyl.  Look at them as an old traditional vinyl record.  If you snap the record in half and look at it from any perspective, it has the same color throughout the vinyl material.

Since Aluminum Windows consist of moving parts with metal against metal, they must be lubricated regularly.  If you paint them, as do most homeowners, they will require regular attention and maintenance.

When it comes to Energy Efficiency & Thermal Performance, Vinyl Windows are far superior to Aluminum windows.

They are designed to provide the industry’s best energy efficiency!

Aluminum windows allow unwanted heat and cold from the outside into your room acting much like a radiator.  This heat transfer action is very characteristic of aluminum windows and causes condensation between the window and the wall resulting in rot, mildew and mold!!

To combat rot, condensation, mildew, and mold in aluminum windows, the installer may use Thermal breaks to increase the windows’ energy efficiency.  Not only does this greatly add to the overall cost of the aluminum windows, but it is not a 100% guaranteed fix.

What is High-performance glass?

At Universal Windows Direct, we offer a triple-pane window for added savings, impact-resistant windows for areas of extreme conditions, or windows with shades built between the glass for a touch of modern living.  Although they are more expensive than the double-pane windows, the added benefits may be worth the extra cost.  The Texas heat alone can be the number one reason alone for buying high-performance glass vinyl windows!!

Typically, the two most important factors when considering purchasing these high-performance glass windows is the installation and the type of window that you choose.  Installation prices as well as the quality of the window that is chosen are two of the biggest factors when determining the overall cost of the window.  Universal Windows Direct offers the best quality vinyl windows at unbeatable prices and come with our standard warranty.  We stand behind our windows, and guarantee the installation and quality of our products.

What are the benefits of installing vinyl windows?

Number 1: Vinyl mainframes and sashes won’t chip, peel, crack or warp.

Number 2: The multi-chambered sashes and mainframes create insulating air spaces for increased thermal efficiency.  Basically, your windows will provide less heat loss during the Winter.  The aluminum windows that are in most homes today do not bend and move with the outside of the house.  Consequently, small miniscule passages between the aluminum frame and the wood structure of the windows allow the cold air to seep into your home.

When it’s cold outside, traditional metal type window spacers can drain energy savings from your high performance windows.  Universal Windows created the Super Spacer to combat this dilemma.  The average homeowner probably doesn’t realize it, but a key factor to your window’s performance is the spacer system.  A spacer not only stabilizes the panes of glass, but also provides an insulating air space to prevent energy loss.  Many of the homes we live in today, yes, even in Waco, Texas, are constructed with highly conductive metal-based spacers, which can cause the window to lose up to 50% of its overall stated R-value (resistance to heat flow) at the edge of the glass.

Super Spacer’s non-metal design eliminates any metal-to-glass contact and provides a warm, non-conductive edge.  The ultra-efficient structural foam spacer helps increase the edge of the glass temperatures for a superior thermal barrier and year-round energy savings.

Number 3: The triple pane insulated glass units with optimal air space improves year-round performance and helps to eliminate window condensation.

What is window condensation and why does it start near the edge of the glass?

The edge of the insulating glass unit is the most vulnerable to heating and cooling loss and changes in temperature, often due to traditional box-shaped metal spacers that can conduct heat and cold.  Conducted energy loss can lead to condensation problems at the window edge, such as damage to woodwork, paint or draperies.

The Super Spacer non-metal design helps to keep moisture off the glass by providing a warm non-conductive edge.  The dual-sealing, structural foam spacer helps prevent condensation, reduces energy usage and creates a more balanced indoor climate.    In laymen terms, the Super Spacer provides outstanding resistance to condensation by eliminating metal-to-glass contact and conduction.

With new vinyl windows installed from Universal Windows Direct, your family will benefit from:

2. Increased home value
